Beyond Borders
Extending compassion beyond borders to help refugees rebuild and thrive.
Beyond Borders is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to championing the rights and dignity of refugees and asylees. We provide essential support through fundraising, volunteer efforts, and community partnerships for individuals forced to flee conflict, persecution, or natural disasters. Our mission is to raise awareness, mobilize resources, and deliver hope and opportunity for displaced families to rebuild their lives and thrive.
Mission Statement
Syria
More than a decade of civil war has displaced millions of Syrians. Refugees face trauma, destroyed infrastructure, and scarce resources, creating urgent needs for shelter, healthcare, and long-term rebuilding opportunities.
Ukraine
Russia’s invasion has forced millions of Ukrainians from their homes into neighboring countries. Refugees urgently need housing, trauma support, and pathways to stability as ongoing conflict devastates communities.
Mexico
Widespread violence, organized crime, and poverty drive many to flee Mexico. Asylum seekers require immediate safety, legal assistance, and opportunities to rebuild their lives with dignity and security.
Afghanistan
Conflict and Taliban rule continue to force Afghans, especially women and minorities, to flee persecution. Refugees need urgent asylum, access to education, and resources to create safe and stable futures.
Venezuela
Economic collapse and political repression fuel one of the largest mass migrations in the world. Venezuelan refugees face hunger, lack of healthcare, and insecurity, requiring humanitarian aid and resettlement support.
El Salvador
Gang violence, political instability, and poverty push many Salvadorans to seek asylum abroad. Refugees need protection, legal aid, and resources to build safer, more hopeful futures for themselves and their families.

Hygiene Kits
Beyond Borders partners with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to assemble and distribute hygiene kits for refugee families. Our student volunteers carefully prepare each kit with essential items such as soap, toothpaste, and sanitary products, making sure families have the basic resources they need as they begin their resettlement journey.

Digital Literacy
Beyond Borders collaborates with the IRC to provide digital literacy courses that empower refugee families to confidently navigate technology. Participants learn practical skills such as using email, accessing online resources, applying for jobs, and managing digital communication. Laptops are provided by the IRC, while instructors lead interactive workshops supported by our volunteers, who offer one-on-one guidance to help families apply these skills in their daily lives.
Health Fair
Beyond Borders organizes community health fairs to expand access to healthcare for immigrants and asylees. In partnership with the IRC and other UCLA student organizations, we bring together medical professionals, student volunteers, and local resources to provide free health screenings, distribute essential goods, and connect families with ongoing medical and social services.
